About Course
I. Course Description
The current course aims to provide a student with a deeper understanding of the Prophecy section of the Protestant Old Testament Canon. It builds upon the prior covered Old Testament courses to show in detail how prophecy arose in Israel as an office and later as inspired Scripture. With that rudimentary information, the attempt will be made to truly decipher the character, calling, message, and function of the prophets, as well as the necessary tools for the near-objective interpretation of prophetic texts. The study would also demonstrate how God has been acting in salvation history, revealing His message through His Holy Spirit and preparing the way for the coming of the redeemer who would save His people from sin, which was accomplished in Jesus Christ. Finally, with the understanding gained, a student will be able to have a grander image of YHWH, relate him/herself better to the
prophets of the Old Testament, and evaluate how s/he is called to lead the current church and community into an estate of salvation, shalom, and service to the world.
II. Course Objectives
